Julie Springsteen

5th-8th Grade Science

Julie is originally from Michigan where she graduated from Western Michigan University, earning a bachelor’s degree studying earth science and textiles. She spent the next four years in New York City working a variety of different jobs, from advertising to engineering, before moving to Asheville in 2002 to work for the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Julie’s classroom teaching career began in 2012 after receiving her North Carolina teaching license from Western Carolina University. She then received her North Carolina certification in Special Education in 2017. In her spare time, Julie competes in Ironman triathlons and is very involved in the running, cycling, and triathlon communities in Asheville. She coaches cross country at FDNSC and Warren Wilson College, serves on the board of directors for the Asheville Triathlon Club, and is a member of the Baucco Squad Triathlon Team.
