Francine Delany New School for Children begins the enrollment process each January for the following school year. Any parent wishing to enroll a student at Francine Delany is highly encouraged to attend the information meeting or schedule a tour to learn about our philosophy, goverance and expectations for parents, students and teachers.
Tours for the 2012-2013 school year will be held the first Thursday of each month at 1:00pm and the third Tuesday of every month at 9:00am September through December. January through May tours will be available at 9:00am for parents interested in grades 3-8 and 1:00 for parents interested in grades kindergarten through 2 on the first Thursday and at 9:00am for parents interested in grades kindergarten through 2 and 1:00 for parents interested in grades 3-8 third Tuesday. Please call Nancy at 828-236-9441 ext 236 to let her know you would like to attend a tour. Tours will be limited to 8 people. For families that cannot attend a daytime tour, we will hold an open house and information meeting for families interested in applying on March 7, 2013. The open house will be 6:00-6:30 with an information meeting 6:30-7:30.
After families attend an information meeting or visit the school, they are given an application. Applications can also be downloaded below. The application deadline for the 2013-2014 lottery is March 31, 2013.
The lottery determines the order in which students will be enrolled for each grade level or placed on the waiting list if space is not available. Applications received after the lottery will placed on the waiting list in order they are received. Each year we enroll at least 16 kindergarteners. Other space in the school is determined by slots opened up by students transferring to another school.
